Social Activities/SRC

Student Representative Council (SRC)

Each year a group of students is elected to form the SRC. The SRC plays a vital role in ensuring that students get the most out of their time at AIHS, both socially and academically, whether it’s through organising social events or promoting charitable events and environmental initiatives. The SRC aims to continually improve the quality of campus life. Elected by their peers, the SRC also represents the student body and communicates its views in meetings with senior management.

The SRC plans, funds and hosts a wide range of student activities, including trips around Canberra and surrounds, balls, themed nights, cultural outings and evenings, and off-campus trips such as paintball, ice-skating and winery tours. The SRC also manages the student bar, The Procrastinator, and often hires a DJ for live music.

Events

As part of their studies, students organise and host events. Students and staff alike attend these events and members of the public are also frequently invited. Events include charity fundraising dinners, cocktail functions, proms and Open Days.

Field Trips

Students participate in a wide range of academic field trips, which have included Quarantine Station in Sydney, the National Zoo in Canberra, and tours to well-known wine-growing regions.

Sport and fitness

Our students enjoy a range of sporting activities both on and off campus. The local area has numerous sporting facilities, including the Canberra Rugby Club, playing fields, tennis courts, swimming pools, bike paths and walking tracks.
