Bachelor of Business (International Hotel Management), including the coveted Swiss Hotel Association (SHA) Diploma

This program provides students with a strong, business-focused education and training in all areas of hotel management. It includes practical skills training under professional supervision, as well as paid employment and training with employers in Australia and abroad, including major hotel brands and groups, boutique and stand-alone hotels, and serviced apartments.

Specialised units of study include, but are not limited to:

  • Hotel Operations: Enables students to learn skills within key operational areas of a hotel including kitchen, food & beverage, housekeeping and front office.
  • E-Commerce for the Hotel Industry: Introduces students to the primary e-business models and technologies in use, as well as current e-commerce trends and innovations.
  • Hotel Operations and Environment Management: Develops skills required to effectively manage tourism and hospitality facilities while understanding the surrounding environmental issues.
  • Revenue Management: Students gain a comprehensive understanding of contemporary revenue management processes and the role of revenue management in modern hotel marketing.

Swiss Hotel Association Dipolma

AIHS follows the traditional Swiss Hospitality Education model, originally conceived by the Swiss Hotel Association from the home of hospitality, which balances theoretical classes with hands on learning in service, food and beverage, rooms division and professional internships. If students are completing this degree option then they have the opportunity to graduate with the SHA Diploma in Hotel Operations. This world renowned qualification signifies:

Bachelor of Business (International Event Management)

Event management runs across all industries, from MICE (Meetings, Incentives, Conferences and Exhibitions) to community and cultural celebrations and corporate and government events. This program gives students a broad business-focused education in all key areas of event management. It includes practical skills training under professional supervision, as well as paid employment and training with employers in Australia and abroad, including hotels, convention centres and event venues.

As the MICE industry grows in Australia, and internationally, students complete specialised subjects to ensure the theoretical knowledge and practical skills gained are relevant to the industry as it is today, and in the future. Units include, but not limited to:

  • Corporate Hospitality and Tourism Operations: Introduces theories, concepts and skills required for effective operation and management of corporate food and beverage operations.
  • Meetings and Conventions Management: Students acquire the knowledge base, strategies and skills to develop an understanding the role of an business event manager.
  • Event Management and Logistics: This unit explores a variety of operational issues which are significant to event management including logistics, risk management (security, crowd control etc) and the role of technology.
  • Event Facilities Management: Provides students with the fundamental knowledge and skills pertaining to the management of various event facilities.
