Mission Statement

The AIHS aims to graduate students with the academic and professional competencies required for success in the global hospitality industry by offering an integrated management curriculum and practical professional experiences.

AIHS Philosophy

The AIHS recognises that neither education nor work experience alone are sufficient as a foundation on which to build a career in the industry. Our Bachelor of Business (Hotel Management) program incorporates a full year of industry placements combined with two years of academic studies.

The results of our well-balanced degree are focused graduates with a commitment to the hospitality and tourism industry, who have practical ‘real world’ experience, who possess the skills to immediately play an active role in the industry, and who are equipped to succeed in a competitive marketplace.

AIHS graduates have a high degree of initiative, confidence, and ambition. While at the AIHS students gain an understanding of business acumen, which gives them an understanding of the importance of networking. For example, where as traditional hotel schools require their students to wear uniforms, the AIHS believes that to be successful in management, graduates of the AIHS will not only have acquired a high level education, but will have developed the confidence and skills to act appropriately, to know how to dress, act and manage, so that they can provide professional service to customers, shareholders and fellow employees.

Faculty

The majority of the AIHS academic staff possess hospitality and tourism industry managerial experience, an important quality that provides practical and specialised business education. Academic staff share a dedication for teaching and are drawn from around the world.

Consisting of associate professors, full time and adjunct lecturers and two academic officers –- AIHS faculty offer students a wealth of knowledge and challenge them both in and out of the classroom.

The Visiting Professors Program provides students with the opportunity to undertake a broader range of elective subjects delivered by internationally recognised specialists in tourism and hospitality from other major universities.
