Living Expenses
As a guide most students will need between AUD$10,000 – AUD$13,000 a year to live comfortably in Canberra, in addition to tuition fees.
This amount would include accommodation, food and other basic living costs. You will need to allow for textbooks and other study items within this amount which could cost from AUD$300 to AUD$600 per year.
Off-Campus Accommodation (Postgraduate 2nd year students only)
International and interstate students in the Bachelor of Business are required to live on campus during their academic terms at the school. Post graduate students are required to do so for the first year, but may choose to live off campus in the second year.
If you decide to live off campus, during postgraduate studies, you will need to look at renting a privately owned house or apartment available through the rental market. You will find that rents in the suburbs surrounding the AIHS campus are quite high. Suburbs further from the campus may have cheaper rental prices although it will be necessary to use private or public transport to access the AIHS campus.
If you decide to live off-campus,during postgraduate studies, its important to note that it is often difficult to find accommodation prior to arriving in Canberra. It is recommended that you personally inspect potential properties and you will be required to complete documentation with the rental agent. Generally, you will be required to pay establishment costs (phone, electricity connections), bond and ongoing costs, such as food and groceries, phone, electricity and rent. Generally you are required to sign a 12-month lease. |
